About CDLTest360
CDLTest360 is an independent CDL practice test and pre-trip inspection trainer built for drivers who study on their phone in small blocks of time. Every question is written from public FMCSA regulations and state CDL manuals, and every explanation is written by hand to teach the reasoning behind the rule — not just the letter of the answer.
Why CDLTest360 exists
CDLTest360 was built for one kind of person: the driver who studies on a phone, ten or fifteen minutes at a time, between shifts, in a truck stop, or on a break at home. Traditional CDL study material assumes you'll sit down with a 200-page PDF and a highlighter. That's not how most future truck drivers actually prepare, and it's not how anyone learns for a high-stakes multiple-choice test.
We started CDLTest360 because the tools we saw were either too expensive, too shallow, or too cluttered with ads and upsells to actually help someone pass. We wanted a focused trainer: real questions, honest explanations, a clean interface, no distractions, and a price that a student driver could afford before their first paycheck.
Our mission
Our mission is simple: help every commercial driver — new or experienced — pass their CDL knowledge and skills tests on the first try, and understand the rules well enough to drive safely for the rest of their career. Passing the test is the short-term goal. Building drivers who actually know the regulations is the long-term one, and it's what makes highways safer for everyone.
How our questions are written
Every practice question in CDLTest360 is written from public sources — the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations (FMCSA), the AAMVA CDL model manual, and the individual state CDL manuals published by each state's Department of Motor Vehicles. Question stems and correct answers mirror the source material so that what you learn matches what's on the official knowledge test.
The wrong answers ("distractors") and the explanations shown after each question are original teaching content. We write them to explain why the right answer is right, not just that it's right — because on the real test you need to recognize the reasoning, not just memorize a letter. Every explanation cites the FMCSA regulation or manual section it came from so you can go deeper when a topic doesn't click.
FMCSA and state DMV sources
The core source material we work from includes 49 CFR Parts 380–399 (the federal motor carrier safety regulations), the FMCSA Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) curriculum, the AAMVA 2005 CDL Model Manual and its updates, and the current CDL manual published by each state DMV we cover. When federal and state rules differ — for example, intrastate age minimums, chain laws, or specific parking rules — we note the difference directly in the explanation.
When FMCSA publishes a change (hours-of-service updates, new ELDT requirements, drug-and-alcohol clearinghouse rules, and similar), we update the affected questions and study guides so what you study reflects the rules you'll actually be tested on.
How practice tests work
Practice mode gives you instant feedback after each question, a pinned explanation you can re-read, and a citation back to the source material. It's the mode most drivers spend the most time in, and it's where real learning happens.
Exam mode simulates the real DMV test: 50 questions, an 80% pass line, and no feedback until the end. When you finish, you get a scorecard and a review of every question you missed, so you can turn a failed practice run into targeted study. Passing exam mode consistently is a good signal that you're ready for the real thing.
Missed questions are automatically saved so you can drill only the ones you got wrong until they stick. This is the fastest path from "I keep guessing on air brakes" to "I know air brakes."
Why our explanations are different
Most CDL practice apps show you the correct letter and move on. We treat every explanation as a mini-lesson: the rule in plain English, the reason behind it, the mistake most people make on the question, and a citation to the FMCSA section or state manual page where the rule lives. If a topic keeps tripping you up, we link to the matching study guide so you can zoom out and learn the whole concept, not just the one question.

Because the app runs in any modern mobile browser, there's nothing to install and no app-store approval required — you sign in and start studying.
How often our content is reviewed
We review question banks and study guides on a rolling schedule: high-traffic banks (General Knowledge, Air Brakes, Combination Vehicles) are audited quarterly, endorsement banks at least twice a year, and every bank is re-checked whenever FMCSA or a state DMV publishes a rule change that affects test content. When a user reports a question through the Contact page, we investigate within a few business days and update the question if the report is correct.

CDLTest360 is an independent study aid. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to FMCSA, any state Department of Motor Vehicles, or any CDL school or testing provider. Passing our practice tests does not guarantee passing the official knowledge test in your state — always study the current manual your state DMV publishes.
